The National 10 class was originally known as the Turnabout class, built in 1953 by Harold R. Turner as a small, wooden single of double handed dinghy class. The boats, often built by “do it yourselfers” in garages, were originally a junior training boat. In 1972 the turnabout class formally changed its name to the “National 10″ class. The class is now up to 4,200 boats and is a truly solid and competitive junior and senior class

July 26 Traverse ALS Regatta, Medford Boat Club
Many of you are aware that Chris Traverse, key contributor to the MBC Sail Program and life long sailor, has been diagnosed with ALS. To celebrate all Chris has given to the development of the MBC Sail Program, the N-10 fleet and junior sailing while raising funds for ALS research, the Medford Boat Club is hosting a one-day regatta on Saturday July 26, 2014. We plan to create a fun atmosphere of friendly racing to raise funds for a great cause! We would love for sailors from all area clubs to participate in making this benefit a success.
We are reaching out to all of you, asking for any expertise or hands on support you would be willing to offer. Most of you know Chris and several of you have been involved in running fundraiser regattas (e.g. Make-A-Wish, Birch Cotter).
All proceeds will benefit ALS-TDI, a nonprofit biotechnology organization dedicated to developing effective treatments for ALS. ALS-TDI is committed to creating and leading a transparent collaborative research process with the singular goal of ending ALS!
Chris’s dream has been to create a regatta spanning both the upper and lower Mystic Lake. We need your participation to make it a reality. NOR to follow and fleets below
Lower Lake: Opti’s, Lasers
Upper Lake: N-10′s, 420′s
