The object of the N10 Association is to promote racing of the boats meeting the specifications of the National Ten Association; to maintain uniformity of all such boats in “one design” construction and sail plan; to adopt and enforce rules and regulations to insure equality in racing competition. To cooperate with and aid individuals and groups in the formation of local National Ten units, and to require in turn, observance of such rules and regulations as are set down by the Association. To further this objective the National 10 Association sanctions and sponsors a series of four annual N10 Championship regattas. The purpose of the National Ten Championships shall be to determine annually by competition the champions of the National Ten Class among Midgets, Juniors, Seniors (no longer an active regatta), and NE Open.
Midgets Skipper and crew required and must not have reached their fourteenth birthday by the day of the regatta. Midgets is a single fleet regatta and, unless otherwise voted, individual trophies are awarded to the top 10 skipper and crew. A Perpetual plaque is presented to the best overall skipper and crew to be engraved and held at the winner’s associated club and returned for/delivered to the hosting organization of the following year’s competition.
The Merriman Cup and a coordinating keepsake plaque is awarded to the skipper 11 years of age or younger with best overall finish in the Midgets Regatta. The Merriman Cup remains in the sailors custody for the year and must be returned /delivered to the hosting organization of the following year’s competition.
Juniors
Skipper and optional crew must have reached their twelfth and not their eighteenth birthday by the day of the regatta. Juniors may be sailed without crew. If choosing to sail the Juniors regatta singlehanded, the singlehanded sailor may not fly a spinnaker. Juniors is a single fleet regatta and, unless otherwise voted, individual trophies are awarded to the top 5 skippers and crew. A Perpetual plaque is presented to the best overall skipper and crew to be engraved and held at the winner’s associated club and returned for/delivered to the hosting organization of the following year’s competition.
Seniors (inactive)
Skipper and optional crew must have reached their eighteenth birthday by the day of the regatta. Senior may be sailed without crew. Seniors is a single fleet regatta and, unless otherwise voted, individual trophies are awarded to the top 5 skippers and crew.
NE Open
Skipper and crew required and is open to N10 sailors of all ages. The NE Open is a 2 fleet regatta consisting of a Silver Fleet (beginner skipper who has never placed in an N10 regatta) and Gold Fleet (experienced skipper) and, unless otherwise voted, individual trophies are awarded to the top 5 skippers and crew in each of the Silver and Gold Fleets.
